BWCDO partners with Iqra Fund, a U.S.-based nonprofit, to provide access to quality education for women and girls in remote areas of northern Pakistan. Educational efforts tie into snow leopard conservation both directly by raising awareness of the animals and indirectly by providing alternative career pathways for young men and women that lessen community dependence on livestock production. BWCDO designs lesson plans, hosts events, and establishes environmental clubs in schools to spread awareness of environmental conservation and the local ecological role of the snow leopard as a keystone species.
